PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method in which the color gamut is converted when an input image does not fall within the color gamut of an output unit. SOLUTION: The image processing method can convert the color gamut of an image within the color gamut of an output unit depending on the color distribution of an inputted image, or can perform optimal color gamut conversion of each image by varying the direction for converting the color gamut of image data thereby converting the color.
