PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system capable of efficiently confirming the contents of abnormal state notification without installing a plurality of operating terminal units. SOLUTION: A large number of failure information terminal units 3a-3n for constantly detecting the state of various equipments 2a-2n are connected to a monitoring center 5 via a communication line 4. A terminal control device 6d is provided among a data processor 6c for preparing display data, an operating terminal unit 6e and a facsimile device 7 of the monitoring center 5, and in the case of failing to transmit the display data to the operating terminal unit 6e, the corresponding information is printed by the facsimile device 7.
