DATA COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR ATM NETWORK AND ATM SWITCH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication system in an ATM network, which provides a service class not specifying delay time by transfer so as to transmit an ATM cell via an idle band of a communication channel and to provide an ATM switch. SOLUTION: The ATM switch 2 is provided with a channel input section 5, a switch section 6 that conducts switching processing of an ATM cell, a buffer trunk section 7 that temporarily stores the ATM cell, and a channel output section 8. When a connection not specifying a transfer delay time is set to an input channel 9, the ATM cell received from the channel input section 5 via the switch section 6 is temporarily stored in the buffer trunk section 7. On the occurrence of an idle band in the output channel 13, the ATM cell stored in the buffer trunk section 7 is extracted and the channel output section 8 inserts the ATM cell to the idle band.
