PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an MPEG image processor which can practice a decoding process efficiently even if a quantity of transferred data and the number of types of data are increased. SOLUTION: A video transfer control unit 23 generating data transfer quantity limit values whose set value according to an optimum decoded image data transfer period from the start time of the image data decoding is reduced according to a process period is provided in an MPEG decoding process unit 11. A transfer request process unit 31 controlling the quantity of data transfer other than the decoded image data transfer according to the generated data transfer quantity limit values is provided in an SDRAM transfer control unit 16. The decoded image data can be transferred between the MPEG decoding process unit 11 and an SDRAM 14 satisfactorily.
