PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transfer device for transferring data between a system bus and a local bus at high speed. SOLUTION: A bus bridge 101 is connected between a system bus 132 and a local bus 137, data to be transferred on the system bus 132 among a CPU 133, I/O equipment 136 and a main storage device 135 are held via an associated memory control part 105 into an associated memory 106 and when access from the I/O equipment 138 on the local bus 137 to these data occurs, the data are transferred from the associated memory 106 to the I/O equipment 138. Therefore, when data transfer from the I/O equipment 138 to the main storage device 135 is requested and these data are held in the associated memory 106, a bus cycle does not occur on the system bus 132 so that the data can be transferred at high speed.
