PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stream communication system that can calculate a signal loss amount in the case of sending/receiving a data packet with intermitting transmission of the data packet via a communication network. SOLUTION: A sender communication terminal of the stream communication system has a means that gives a sequence number incremented in the transmission sequence of data packets to each data packet in the case of transmitting the data packet, assigns a sequence number incremented similarly in the case of transmission even when the transmission of the data packet is intermitted and transmits the data packet with the increased sequence number integrated with the incremented sequence number assigned during the transmission intermission at the transmission restart of the data packet to a receiver communication unit. The receiver communication terminal detects a transmission amount of the data packet taking the transmission intermission into account on the basis of the sequence number of the data packet just before the transmission intermission and the sequence number of the data packet at transmission restart so as to calculate the data loss.
