<p>The invention provides a nuclear reactor having a reactor pressure vessel and a reactor core. The reactor core has a structure positioned in the reactor vessel and space therefrom to define an insulating space therebetween. The reactor pressure vessel temperature control system is provided which is in flow communication with the insulating space for circulating an insulating fluid through the insulating space and thereby cooling the reactor pressure vessel. The reactor pressure vessel temperature control system typically includes a plurality of blowers, each of which is directly connected to a heat exchanger to form a coupled unit which is in flow communication with the insulating space.</p> |
