An overhead line bus has an electrical propulsion drive (1) and a current pickup (2) for the supply of the electrical propulsion drive with electric power from a current-carrying wire (3). For the temporary operation on a trolley wire-free stretch, a fuel cell system (4) is provided with at least one fuel cell unit (5) for the electrical supply of the propulsion drive in the bus. The fuel cell system is connected electrically with a DC/DC step-up converter to match the voltage level of the fuel cell unit to a voltage level of the electrical propulsion drive. A tank (6) for gaseous or liquid water is provided in the overhead line bus for the supply of the fuel cell unit with a combustion medium.
