<p>A method and apparatus for controling image formation so that data to be printed can be printed reliably up to the number of reproductions that the user is allowed to print data even if a trouble occurs during the printing when the number of reproductions of the data to be printed is limited. Printing management information so added as to correspond to the data to be printed is referred to. If the number of reproductions of the data is limited, the printing mode is changed from the performance-preference mode in which the data to be printed is normally reproduced to the safety preference mode in which the required reproduction is more reliably performed than the performance preference mode. The number of printings of the data to be printed is managed as the printing history. The printing of the data to be printed is controlled according to the number of reproductions of the data and the managed printing history.</p> |
