The invention relates to glycoconjugates, in which a protein moiety is covalently bridged to an additional protein moiety, a nucleic acid, a lipid, or a micelle, using a carbohydrate chain. The bridging process takes place by means of a chemical group that does not occur naturally in the carbohydrate moiety of glycoproteins and that is coupled to a neuraminic acid group, a galactosamine group or a glucosamine group of the carbohydrate chain. The invention also relates to a method for producing said glycoconjugates. In a first step of said method, eukaryotic cells are cultivated in the presence of a non-physiological precursor carbohydrate and in a second step a covalent bridging of the glycoprotein isolated in the first step to the carbohydrate moiety of a glycoprotein, a nucleic acid, or a lipid, using a reactive chemical group that does not occur naturally there, takes place. |
