The mobile communication terminal is made up of three very flat rectangular components (1,2,3) connected to each other by a hinge mechanism (4,5) such that when the parts are folded together, one of the other parts (2) comes to lie between the other two (1,3). When the device is opened out, an outer part (2) lies on the user surface e.g. a desk while the middle (1) and other outer (3) parts form an obtuse angle downwards relative to the surface. The front of the middle part (1) has a display (6) and operating elements (7,8). The front of the part lying on the use surface has a touch screen (9) coupled to a text recognition system.
