A cutting tool has a symmetrical design which can be fitted onto the tool support either way up, to present one of two cutting edges. The tool has a tapering rear section, and parallel top and bottom faces, and fits into a shaped recess on the tool holder where it is secured by a single screw. The cutting edges are adjacent to swarf control edges. The tool holder holds the tool at an optimum angle, e.g. at approximately 15 deg.
