Motor vehicle with integral body-frame has crumple zone with longitudinal struts of extruded light-weight panels

The body consists mainly of formed sheet metal parts and has a crumple zone with longitudinal struts. The struts (24) are supported on the passenger safety cell for absorption of impact energy, and consist mainly of light-weight panels. These extend mainly in vertical direction of the crumple zone (12). The body panels associated with the struts have holders (28) for crash-stable fastening of the light-weight panels. The panels are extruded profiles with chambers (26) extending in longitudinal vehicle direction.
