An electromagnetic load, eg a fuel injection valve actuator , (100) is coupled a current sensor (130) and FET switches (110,150) coupled to a controller (170). One supply (120) is provided directly by the vehicle battery, while the other is from a capacitor coupled via a DC/DC converter. This provides a boost function to provide fast response of the actuator.
