The invention relates to a method for conducting a cashless payment in which a machine-readable data carrier is used, and at least one or more tokens are stored on said data carrier, whereby a predetermined monetary value or goods value is allocated to each token. The inventive method involves the following steps: the generation and storage of a token at a system operator; the transmission of a token from the user to a system operator; the verification of the token by the system operator; the transmission of a message to the user, whereby the payment is either confirmed or denied by the message, and; transmission of information and/or distribution to the offerer of the effected payment or the redemption of bonus points.
