IMAGE PROCESSOR, ITS IMAGE READER AND FIBER LENS, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING FIBER LENS

An image reader which reads an image drawn on paper or sheetlike record medium, an image processor such as a copier or a scanner equipped with the image reader, or a fiber lens used for these apparatuses. The image processor scales up as the whole to read both sides of a document. Then, an image reader (10a) is disposed above a transport path and an image reader (10b) below it. For scale-down of the processor, there arises the necessity of reducing the diameter of an optical fiber (140) of the fiber lens (14) which the image reader comprises as the light-receiving means. In this case, the optical fiber (140) is provided with a light-absorbing layer (8 (143)) around the optical fiber (140) to suppress crosstalk or flare phenomenon. The illuminance of a light source means (15) which the image reader comprises decreases with scale-down. If the illuminance is small, image quality deteriorates by the float of the document. Therefore, the image reader comprises a light source means which uniforms the illuminance over a predetermined width in horizontal and vertical scanning directions, thereby avoiding the deterioration of image quality.
