The device has a working chamber for alternating pressure in a housing, a working piston, a storage chamber connected to the working chamber from which hydraulic oil flows into the housing cylinder chamber under storage pressure during a rapid-return motion and back during a return stroke and a plunger piston as the high pressure generator. The plunger piston, or the drive spindle for at least the working stroke, has an electrical drive. The device has a working chamber (4) for alternating pressure in a housing (1), a working piston (3) with a piston rod leading out of the housing, a storage chamber (5) connected to the working chamber from which hydraulic oil flows into the cylinder chamber of the housing under storage pressure during a rapid-return motion and back during a return stroke and a plunger piston (8) as the high pressure generator with a drive for the rapid-return motion and a working stroke. The plunger piston, or the drive spindle (9) for at least the working stroke is driven by an electrical arrangement (11).
