PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an outlet region of nozzles is deformed by a conventional wiper thereby affecting a size, a track and a speed when ink drops are emitted and eventually affecting the performance of an ink jet printing head because the wiper of an ink jet printer provided for wiping traversing the printing head and cleaning a contaminant such as ink or the like dried or being dried from a printing face scratches the outlet region of the nozzles by an edge part of a wiping region during the wiping in some cases. SOLUTION: There is provided the wiper which is prevented from contacting directly the nozzle part so as not to scratch the outlet region of the nozzles during the wiping operation.
