PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic resin film which has a high gas barrier property even under a high humidity. SOLUTION: This method for producing the gas barrier film, characterized by coating a solution containing polyvinyl alcohol (A) and an olefin-maleic acid copolymer (B) in an A/B weight ratio of 97/3 to 20/80 on at least one side of a thermoplastic resin film, drying the coated solution, thermally treating the dried coating at a temperature of >=150 deg.C, and further irradiating the treated coating with electron beams.
