PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the entire area of intermediate transfer bodies cannot uniformly be used yet and even the state can not be confirmed since the absolute positions of marks on the intermediate transfer bodies are not detected. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with the marks M1, M2, M3... provided on the intermediate transfer bodies 13, 22, and 49 and an optical detecting means 76 which generates differences in detection signal level from the marks M1, M2, M3... by optically detecting those marks M1, M2, M3... and detects positions on the intermediate transfer bodies 13, 22, and 49 with the detection signal level of the optical detecting means 76 to control image formation. |
