PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester resin which generates little by-product with controlled contamination of a mold during molding and is excellent in transparency. SOLUTION: This polyester resin is produced by subjecting a dicarboxylic acid component comprising mainly an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or its ester- forming derivative and a diol component comprising mainly ethylene glycol to polycondensation through esterification or transesterification, wherein the difference between the cyclic trimer content (CTS wt.%) of the resin in the molded material after injection molding at 280 deg.C and the cyclic trimer content (CT0 wt.%) of the resin before injection molding, (CTS-CT0), is at most 0.10 wt.% and wherein the temperature-fall crystallization temperature (TC2) of the resin in the molded material is 180 deg.C or lower.
