PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of preventing various problems caused by the warping of paper in feeding out and conveying the paper stacked on a cassette. SOLUTION: This paper feeder comprises a cassette for stacking and storing plural recording paper sheets, a pressing member for pressing the recording paper from its upper side, a pick-up roller for feeding out and conveying the recording paper during its one rotation in a process to be brought into contact with an uppermost recording from its upper side and then separated therefrom, and a rotating auxiliary pressing member rotated in the direction same as the rotation of the pick-up roller in synchronization with the rotation of the pick-up roller and brought into contact with the recording paper from its upper side at a time before the pick-up roller is brought into contact with the uppermost recording paper during its rotation, every rotation to press the recording paper, and a distance from a rotational axis and a surface to be brought into contact with the recording paper, of the rotating auxiliary pressing member is same as or more than a distance from a rotational axis to a face to be brought into contact with recording paper, of the pick-up roller.
