PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for highly efficiently producing an ethylene polymer suited for blow moldings, especially large blow moldings, excellent in creeping resistance and environmental stress cracking resistance(ESCR). SOLUTION: There are provided a catalyst for ethylene polymerization comprising (A) a solid catalyst component prepared by allowing an inorganic oxide support to carry a chromium compound at least a part of the chromium atoms of which can be converted into hexavalent chromium atoms when activated by firing in a non-reducing atmosphere, (B) a dialkylaluminum-functional-group- containing alkoxide, and (C) a trialkylaluminum; a method for producing an ethylene polymer by using the catalyst; and to obtain an ethylene polymer obtained by the method and suited for blow moldings.
