PURPOSE: A vertically aligned liquid crystal display and a method for fabricating the liquid crystal display are provided to realize wide viewing angle by dividing alignment direction of liquid crystal molecules within one pixel region. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display has the first substrate(10), a protrusion pattern(15) formed on the first substrate, and a pixel electrode(16) covering the protrusion pattern and having an opening(3) in parallel with the protrusion. The liquid crystal display further has the second substrate(20) facing the first substrate, and a common electrode(25) formed on the second substrate. The protrusion pattern has a rectangular shape. The protrusion pattern is configured of a gate insulating layer and/or a protection layer. |
