HYDROGENATED PHENANTHRENE AND USE THEREOF IN LIQUID CRYSTAL MIXTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hydrogenated phenanthrene represented by the formula I (wherein the parameters are described in the detailed account) which is used in a liquid crystal composition. SOLUTION: This new component has high light stability and UV stability and thermal stability, is suitable for realizing a high voltage retention (VHR), can readily be synthesized and is available at a low cost and suitable for use in a nematic or a cholesteric liquid crystal mixture having a positive dielectric anisotropy value connected to a favorable ratio of viscosity/cleaning point.
