PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the abnormality of display even if high potential such as static electricity is added from outside the surface of a liquid crystal display panel. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal layer sandwiched by two substrates is disposed and a display electrode for forming an electric field for driving liquid crystal in the liquid crystal layer and a reference electrode are arranged in each pixel. The electrodes are formed in either of substrates. The one of the display electrode or the reference electrode is arranged as a layer having conductivity nearest to the liquid crystal layer. The other of the display electrode or the reference electrode is arranged as the layer farther than the liquid crystal layer having nearest conductivity. A distance between the liquid crystal layer and the nearest liquid crystal layer in the layers having the conductivity, which are formed in the other substrate, in the two substrates becomes larger than that between the liquid crystal layer and the other layer of the display electrode or the reference electrode.
