PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer, a slip printer, a control method of printer, and a print controller in which visibility of a print image, e.g. a character, can be enhanced. SOLUTION: In a dot impact slip printer, fire time of a coil for driving a dot pin is set long at the time of printing a character where a line L is formed by only one dot-like print Dp in the widthwise direction, i.e., a fine character, so that an impact force being imparted by the dot pin is strengthened. At the time of printing a character where a plurality dot-like prints Dp are arranged in the widthwise direction of a line L forming a character, i.e., a bold character, fire time of the coil is set short so that the impact force is weakened. When a mode alteration command is included in print data, fire time of the coil is altered by altering the print mode and the impact force being imparted to a slip is altered.
