PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of a valve system having a breather device by utilizing a portion of a valve camshaft supporting structure to draw out blowby gas from the breather passage of a valve camshaft. SOLUTION: In the valve system having the breather device for an engine, in which the breather passage 68 is formed in the camshaft 26, a bearing cap 30 against which the outer peripheral surface of one end portion of the camshaft 26 is supported via a bearing 27' is removably secured to an engine body 1 and a breather chamber 69 communicating with the breather passage 68 is provided within the bearing cap 30. A pipe connection 107 to which a breather pipe 70 leading to an intake system is connected is formed integrally with the outer peripheral surface of the breather chamber.
