摘要 <p>A bidirectional dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) cable television network architecture with frequency stacking system provides increased capacity in the reverse path. The combination of optical multiplexing, using dense wave division multiplexing, and RF multiplexing, using frequency stacking, significantly increases the efficiency of the return path in a bidirectional architecture. The ITU grid transmitters and the frequency stacking system may be located at the nodes, at the primary or secondary headends, or with the frequency stacking system at the node and the ITU grid transmitters at the primary/secondary headend.</p>
