PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rangefinder which can measure the distance to a subject accurately from near distance to far distance regardless of the conditions of the subject. SOLUTION: The rangefinder 1A comprises an operation control circuit, i.e., a CPU 1, performing general sequence control and processing output signals from a ratio operating circuit 9 and a quantity of light operating circuit 10 to calculate the distance to a subject, and an EEPROM 11 for storing the error components of the ratio operating circuit 9 and the quantity of light operating circuit 10. More specifically, the CPU 1 calculate the distance to the subject according to the output signals from the ratio operating circuit 9 and the quantity of light operating circuit 10, and the error components of the circuit stored in the EEPROM 11. When a decision is made that operated ratio 1/L data is far distance and operated quantity of light 1/L data is near distance, the CPU 1 determines that the quantity of reflected light is large and selects the ratio 1/L data before conducting pint control based on the selected ratio 1/L data. A highly accurate range finding can thereby be ensured without being affected by the reflectance or shooting conditions of the subject. |
