PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyethylene-2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate (PEN) film excellent in cleavage resistance and suitable for use as a base for a photographic film. SOLUTION: In the biaxially drawn polyethylene-2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate film for a photographic base, the product of the longitudinal draw ratio and transverse draw ratio is 9-15, the pre-peak temperature of the melting point by differential scanning calorimetry is 240-260 deg.C and the rate of delaminating is <=50% in the longitudinal direction and <=90% in the transverse direction.
