PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize a relation of an emission reduced amount to an energy cost, in a plasma catalyst system. SOLUTION: There are provided a power supply control system to a plasma catalyst and a method therefor, wherein plasma energy is controlled according to a measured value or an estimated value of an operation parameter of an engine or a vehicle to optimize the relation of the emission reduced amount to the energy cost. Fixed energy per a standard volume (or mass) of engine exhaust, which is called as a J/L energy supply amount, is supplied to plasma in a typical logic. The J/L energy supply amount is varied ralating to the measured value or the estimated value of the proper parameter such as an NOX concentration from the engine and/or in an exhaust pipe to enhance the energy cost for performance of anti-exhaust emission, in another logic.
