PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emulsion coating composition which has excellent hydrophilic nature, adhesive properties and a film appearance, can reduce the problem of environmental pollution caused by using organic solvents and is highly safe, to provide coated articles thereof, and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The emulsion coating composition comprises a block or graft copolymer comprising a hydrophilic polymer moiety formed from a vinyl monomer and a hydrophobic polymer moiety formed from a water-insoluble vinyl monomer, a surface active agent, water, and a water-soluble organic solvent.
