PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Ni-free white copper alloy having excellent strength and hardness equal to those of nickel silver, further having ductility and excellent workability, corrosion resistance and whiteness, causing no allergic problems and hard to cause the malfunction of a meter inspecting apparatus. SOLUTION: This copper alloy is shown by the general formula: CuaZnbMnc or CuaZndMncXe (wherein, a: the balance, 10<=b<=30, 7<=c<=15, 10<=d<=35, and 0.1<=e<=4), and in which magnetization in the magnetic field of 18 kOe is <=0.2 memu/g, electric conductivity in anαsingle phase or inα+βphases at room temperature is <=20%IACS, and as for its color tone, -2<a*<5, and -3<b*<16 are satisfied. Further, in its production method, the alloy is heated at 200 to 800 deg.C and is cooled to exhibit the above characteristics.
