PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque sensor capable of simply detecting by itself the abnormality of an abnormality detection means itself without affecting normal operation of the torque sensor. SOLUTION: This torque sensor is equipped with a pair of coils with inductance changing in opposite directions to each other according to torque and a differential amplifying means for amplifying the difference between inputted sub-voltages of the two coils based on changes in their inductance and outputting it as a main voltage to a torque determination means of a control device. The torque sensor is further equipped with an abnormality judging means 20a for judging whether an abnormality exists or not based on the two sub-voltages to output an abnormality judgement signal, an abnormality detection signal outputting means 49 for outputting an abnormality detection signal to the control device 50 when the inputted judgement signal is judged to be abnormal, and an abnormality diagnosis means 20a for outputting an abnormality diagnosis signal the same as the judgement signal obtained when the abnormality judgement is made to the outputting means 49 during initial processing after a power supply to the torque sensor 1 is turned on till its operation becomes normal. |
