PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for developing a silver halide photographic sensitive material by which the density of a digital color proof image is stably obtained. SOLUTION: In the developing method in which a silver halide photographic sensitive material with silver halide emulsion layers containing at feast three silver halide emulsions different from one another in spectral sensitivity and combined with yellow, magenta and cyan image forming materials, respectively, on the base is developed after exposure with digital data of an image to form an area gradation image, the amount of a developing solution to be replenished is determined from the size of the exposed image data region and the area data of the sensitive material to be developed.
