PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermoplastic polyester resin having a higher molecular weight and a greater toughness without sacrificing the flowability in molding. SOLUTION: This thermoplastic polyester resin is obtained by reacting (A) a thermoplastic polyester having a specified intrinsic viscosity with (B) a difunctional linking agent having two acid anhydride linkages in the molecule.
