PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal orientating agent capable of surely imparting orientation ability of liquid crystal molecule by rubbing treatment and providing a liquid crystal-orientating film having excellent liquid crystal orientating property and a liquid crystal display element having short afterimage-erasing time. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal orientating agent comprises a polyamic acid containing silicon atom and/or imidized polymer containing silicon atom, e.g. a polyamic acid having silylated amic acid structure. This liquid crystal display element is equipped with a liquid crystal orientating film obtained from the above orientating agent. |
