PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively absorb torsional vibrations, in a driving apparatus for an engine balance shaft. SOLUTION: The driving apparatus for the engine balance shaft is provided with a crankshaft 10 having a crankshaft sprocket 20, balance shafts 50, 52 respectively having balance shaft sprockets 40, 42, and a chain 30 drivably meshed with these sprockets. The crankshaft sprocket 20 has a plurality of splines 72 extending in a radial direction, hub portions 70 fixed to the crankshaft 10, and a rim portion 80. The rim portion 80 is arranged around the hub portions 70, has an outer circumference on which teeth for meshing with the chain 30 is disposed, and has key ways 82 for receiving the splines 72. An elastomer member 90 as an absorbing member of the torsional vibrations of the crankshaft 10 is disposed between the hub portions 70 and the rim portion 80. |
