PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion joint, in which the infiltration of rainwater is prevented by a holder, in which a slot is not bored, while fluctuation in the XY directions of a skeleton can be absorbed. SOLUTION: A substrate material 3 with a projecting strip 3a in the Y direction is fixed onto a skeleton, a through-material 4 with a sliding groove 4a engaged with the projecting strip, an engaging section 4b and a flange 4c is engaged on the substrate material, a connecting member 5 with a connecting plate section 5b is fixed onto the flange, a bracket 6 with a supporting section 6a in the X direction is connected to the connecting plate section, the holder 7, in which a rail section 7b in the X direction is formed to a frame 7a with a base crossed over an opening between the skeletons and an engaging piece 7c is formed at an end section, is connected to the supporting section 6a, a long-sized gasket 8, in which elastic sections 8b, 8c as sealing sections are formed to upper and lower sections, is engaged with the engaging section 4b, and the whole is covered with a covering material 9.
