PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a winch for an elevator facilitating the fitting works of a stator and shortening the assembling time. SOLUTION: This winch for the elevator is provided with a sheave 25 being pivoted by a pair of bearings 22 and 23, a rotor 29 being connected to the sheave 25 and disposed in a different side from the sheave 25 of one bearing 23, the stator 33 having clampers 31 in the both sides, being disposed surrounding the rotor 29, and comprising a motor 34 actuating the sheave 25 coacting with the rotor 29, and a cylindrical stator supporting member 35 extending from one bearing 23 to the stator side 33, supporting the stator 33, and forming a ventilation path 36 in a space toward the stator 33. The stator supporting member 35 is formed dividably from the bearing 23.
