PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method capable of efficiently performing the laser carving processing of a small sized and spherical, rotary oval body-like or rotary body-like article to be processed with high accuracy. SOLUTION: In a laser carving apparatus for carving the article to be processed by the irradiation with laser beam from a laser beam generating means, a rod-shaped member passed through the through-holes provided to one or a plurality of articles to be processed to mount the articles to be processed in a connected state and a drive means for rotating the rod-shaped member around its axis are included. In a laser carving method, the rod-shaped member is passed through one or plural articles to be processed having the through-holes to mount the articles to be processed and the articles to be processed are irradiated with laser beam by a laser beam irradiation means while rotated around the axis of the rod-shaped member.
