The print medium is placed on an aligning and delivery element on a print table (12) aligned with the print head. A pressure plate (36) with pressing surface (38) parallel to the support surface (14) of the print table prevents bending or kinking of the print medium which is held between the two surfaces. Raised edges (40, 42) of the pressure plate prevent unwanted movement of the print medium.
