PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease deviation in image position between each color in a device forming a color image utilizing a multiple number of photoreceptors. SOLUTION: In the device, photoreceptors 1a, 1b, 1c and 1d are driven at constant rotating angle and speed and a difference is given to surface speed of each photoreceptor 1 and carrying speed of a transfer belt 2. Alignment of the image is carried out with ease by eliminating any stretching of each color image even when there is an error in a diameter or eccentricity in each photoreceptor 1.
