PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color thermosensitive transfer recording medium capable of satisfactorily transferring an ink dot of a secondary color on an ink dot of a primary color when a plurality of coloring inks are overprinted to form a multicolor image by using the recording medium of a constitution having a mold release layer containing a wax between a base an a coloring ink layer as a main component. SOLUTION: The color thermosensitive transfer recording medium used to form the multicolor image by overprinting the plurality of coloring inks comprises transfer layers corresponding to the plurality of colors aligned on a single base or provided on respective separate bases so that each transfer layer having at least a mold release layer containing a wax or the like as a main component, a coloring ink layer and an adhesive layer containing particles dispersed in a binder including a thermoplastic resin as a main component sequentially laminated from the base side in such a manner that a thickness d1 of the mold release layer of the primary color, a thickness d1 of the coloring ink layer of the secondary color, a thickness d3 of the adhesive layer of the secondary color and a mean particle size R of the particle incorporated in the adhesive layer of the secondary color have the relationship of (d1+d2+d3)×2>R> d1+d3 (I).
