PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device in which a toner image of good picture quality can be transferred by producing a constant transfer electric field irrelevantly to the properties of a recording material. SOLUTION: A pressure roller 3 which presses the recording material P against a photoreceptor drum 5 is provided opposite to the photoreceptor drum 5, and a transfer electrode 1 not in contact with the photoreceptor drum 5 is provided and pressed against the recording material P by a pressure member 2. The transfer electrode 1 is electrified by a transfer power source 4" to generate a transfer current to the photoreceptor drum 5. The transfer current is a constant current of 1.4μA. This transfer current flows to the photoreceptor drum 5 through the recording material P, so even when the resistance of the recording material P is different, the transfer current flowing to the recording material P is constant and the transfer electric field produced between the recording material P and photoreceptor drum 5 is constant, so that the toner image on the photoreceptor drum 5 can excellently be transferred to the recording material P. Further, the photoreceptor drum 5 and transfer electrode never come into direct contact with each other, so even when the feed width of the recording material P is small, the mentioned effect can be obtained.
