PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process suitable for crosslinking, in an industrial scale, a polysaccharide having a functional group capable of adsorbing a metal ion. SOLUTION: The process is a dry process for introducing crosslinkages to a polysaccharide having a functional group capable of adsorbing a metal ion and comprises a step of contacting the above polysaccharide in the state of a solid with a crosslinker to thereby introduce crosslinkages to the polysaccharide.
