PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a conventional problem in which a tool used for pulling out optical connectors like SC2 connectors is of an exclusive type and technically inapplicable to a connecting operation. SOLUTION: The tool 20 for attaching/detaching an optical connector is constituted such that a pair of inserting pieces 24, insertable to both sides of an optical connector 10 pushed into a female type optical connector, is provided freely movably relative to the tool body 22, with the projecting quantity made variable from the tip end 23 of the tool body. Therefore, with the inserting pieces 24 projected, an engaging pawl on the female optical connector side can be released from the engagement with the optical connector 10; conversely, with the inserting pieces 24 withdrawn, the engaging pawl on the female optical connector side is noninterfering with the engagement with the optical connector 10.
