PURPOSE: A cleansing composition including a foaming surfactant, hydrophobic silica and oxyalkylenated compounds is provided. Therefore, the composition is washable and thick, but has nevertheless properties requested for foaming products, namely good miscibility with water, quick conversion to foam, good washability, and good acceptability, particularly in the case of a soap-containing foaming product. CONSTITUTION: This cleansing composition having a viscosity of 7 to 20Pa.s comprises (1) 2 to 50% by weight of at least one foaming surfactant, (2) 1 to 15% by weight of at least one hydrophobic silica, and (3) 1 to 20% by weight of at least one oxyalkylenated compound in a physiologically acceptable aqueous medium containing at least 35% by weight of water, based on the total weight of the composition. The hydrophobic silica has a specific surface area of 50 to 500m¬2/g, a number particle size of 3 to 50nm and a compression density of 40 to 200g/L.
