PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device for a rotary body which can form an image of high picture quality by reducing the distortion and color slurring of an image formed on or transferred to the rotary body such as an image carrier and an intermediate transfer body by reducing speed variation generated during one rotation of the rotary body without increasing the size nor the cost of the device and an image forming device which uses the driving device. SOLUTION: This driving device drives and rotates the rotary body for image formation through gears and the relation between the phase of the eccentricity of the rotary body and the phase of the cumulative pitch error in the direction of rotation of gears fitted to the rotary body so as to drive the rotary body is so set that variation in surface speed due to the eccentricity of the rotary body which appears in an image is suppressed.
